Bo, Sierra Leone — The Sierra Leone Police in the Southern Region have arrested two individuals in Bo on suspicion of unlawful possession of arms, ammunition, and police uniforms.
The suspects, identified as Rodney Massaquoi and his wife, Mamie Jacob, were apprehended on Tuesday, 27th August 2025, during a raid conducted by the Bo East Division’s Operations Team led by Inspector Evangelist Lahai.
The operation followed intelligence reports from residents of Gbondo Town, who raised concerns over Massaquoi’s suspicious movements.
A search of the couple’s residence uncovered a single-barrel gun, an empty rifle magazine, five Operational Support Division (OSD) uniforms, three OSD berets, two pairs of boots, a cutlass, several knives, two OSD belts, and other items of interest.
According to the Regional Crime Officer, Massaquoi had drawn public suspicion due to his frequent transportation of items to his home at unusual hours.
Further inquiries revealed that he is a former police constable, enlisted in 2005 but dismissed in September 2024 after facing court charges related to cattle theft in Pujehun District.
Both Massaquoi and his wife are in custody, assisting police with ongoing investigations. Authorities say the case remains under active review.
