Pastor Fatoma Tommy Jusu, 38, has been sentenced for running an unauthorized security agency.
The conviction stems from a July 5, 2024 incident, where authorities discovered Jusu operating his security firm at #59c Leicester Road without the requisite license from the Office of National Security (ONS).
Jusu was brought before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Pademba Road Court No. 2, charged with operating a private security service without proper authorization. As the case was in its preliminary stage, Jusu did not enter a plea.
During the court proceedings, Sergeant 8687 Mohamed Bundu from the ONS testified. He explained that on July 5, 2024, Madam Conteh directed him to locate Jusu at Model Junction. Having been briefed on the allegations, Bundu found Jusu and escorted him to the ONS office. En route, Jusu disclosed that his agency employed thirty personnel across five locations. At the ONS office, Jusu admitted to Madam Conteh that his firm had not completed the registration process.
Conteh informed Jusu that his failure to register would prompt further investigation, and he was subsequently taken to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Following Bundu’s testimony, defense attorney Chernor Kamara Esq. requested bail for Jusu. However, Magistrate Bangura denied the bail application, citing public policy concerns.
The case has been adjourned to August 14, 2024.
