A major joint security crackdown led by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in collaboration with the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the National Public Health Agency (NPHA) has resulted in several arrests in Freetown and Waterloo.
The coordinated anti-drug raids were carried out between Friday, October 31, and Saturday, November 1, 2025, as part of intensified efforts to curb narcotic trafficking in the country.
According to security officials, the operation in Freetown led to the arrest of Abdulai Janneh of Juldeh Drive, Allen Town, who was found in possession of two boxes of 250mg Tramadol.
The same day, police detained Aminata and Aaron Brainard of 55 Leicester Road after seizing 541 wraps of suspected Kush and 20 wraps of cannabis sativa.
The exercise continued the following day in Waterloo, where 23 individuals, both men and women, were apprehended. During that raid, law enforcement recovered 890 wraps of suspected Kush, 231 wraps and loose quantities of cannabis sativa, and 200 Tramadol tablets.
Authorities say the operation underscores the government’s continued commitment to dismantling drug networks and protecting communities from the growing threat of substance abuse.
The SLP Media Team confirmed that more targeted enforcement actions are underway as part of nationwide security operations.
