Freetown, Sierra Leone – Former Minister of Youth Affairs, Mohamed Orman Bangura, has spoken publicly for the first time since President Julius Maada Bio relieved him of his duties.
In a statement on Monday morning, Bangura expressed deep gratitude to the president for the opportunity to serve the country’s young people.
Reflecting on his tenure, he highlighted key youth-focused initiatives and reaffirmed his commitment to the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).
“I am profoundly grateful to His Excellency, President Julius Maada Bio, for giving me the platform to serve our nation’s youth. I embraced this role with dedication, worked diligently to influence change, and spearheaded impactful projects that empowered young people across Sierra Leone,” Bangura stated.
During his time in office, Bangura championed programs aimed at job creation, youth entrepreneurship, and vocational training, all designed to foster self-reliance and national development. Under his leadership, policies were introduced to position young people as drivers of economic and social progress.
Despite his departure from government, Bangura pledged to remain committed to national service and the SLPP.
“I remain an SLPP member through and through. Leadership is not about titles—it’s about service. I will continue to serve with the same diligence and passion, working for the progress of our beloved nation,” he affirmed.
His removal from office has sparked discussions within political circles, but Bangura’s statement suggests he remains steadfast in his political journey.
