Freetown, Sierra Leone – 14 June 2025 – Matron Saiminatu Tejan-Sie of Princess Christian Maternity Hospital (PCMH) has publicly addressed false claims circulating on social media linking her to the high-profile case of a missing child at Ola During Children’s Hospital.
In a firm statement, Matron Tejan-Sie expressed concern over a viral image that depicted her standing next to a large sum of money, accompanied by allegations that she had received the cash in connection to the child abduction.
She clarified that the photo was taken during a recent joint press briefing held by the Sierra Leone Midwives Association and the Sierra Leone Nurses Association, where a reward of one hundred million Leones was presented as part of a campaign related to maternal and child health issues.
“I’ve received numerous messages from concerned family members who were misled by the image and its context. I want the public to know that I have absolutely no connection to the incident at Ola During,” she said.
Matron Tejan-Sie emphasized that she is not employed at Ola During Hospital, where the child was reportedly abducted, but rather at PCMH.
She denounced the allegations as a malicious attempt to defame her character and reputation.
“As a mother of two and a committed healthcare professional, I strongly reject these baseless claims. It’s disheartening that some individuals would go to such lengths to tarnish someone’s image,” she stated, adding that she suspects the rumour may have been deliberately spread by individuals with ulterior motives.
She urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and called on authorities to take action against the spread of false and defamatory content online.
