In a series of astonishing events that have left neighboring villages in the Koinadugu district baffled, Sierra Leonean authorities have arrested two individuals believed to be using mystical charms to perpetrate crimes, particularly larceny of cattle and related offenses.
The brazen thefts had left victims stunned due to the audacious nature of the crimes and the mysterious methods employed by the criminals. Suspicion of supernatural involvement grew among villagers as the thefts continued unabated.
At approximately 4:00 AM today, the Kabala Division’s law enforcement personnel successfully apprehended the perpetrators responsible for the wave of crimes.
The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Janneh, 22, hailing from Bilmaia, and Abubakarr Barrie, 23, from Badembaia, were captured in Suturo village, Darasalem Section, Sengbeh Chiefdom.
Authorities from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the matter. It is believed that Janneh and Barrie were key figures in the gang that employed mystical charms to execute their criminal activities, primarily focused on stealing cattle such as cows, goats, and sheep.
The duo was apprehended with a collection of suspicious items, including a dagger, sellotape, an Islamic prayer bead, a goat, and a recently acquired motorbike displaying a new license plate.
As details of the investigation unfold, it has been revealed that the dagger was used to intimidate and harm anyone who crossed their path, while the sellotape was utilized to silence the stolen animals. The Islamic prayer bead, intriguingly, played a role in rendering victims unconscious during the criminals’ incantations as they committed their misdeeds.
Local villagers have expressed immense relief and appreciation for the swift action taken by the Kabala Division in solving the baffling crime spree. All suspects are currently in custody as authorities continue their diligent investigation into the matter.
