Freetown, Sierra Leone – October 27, 2025:
The administration of Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone, has officially announced that the 2025/2026 academic year will begin on Saturday, November 1, 2025, with the commencement of registration for continuing students.
In a public notice issued by Deputy Registrar Brima Bah, faculty members, staff, and students were informed of the reopening date and reminded of the importance of completing all outstanding academic and administrative obligations before the new term begins.
Mr. Bah particularly called on lecturers, Heads of Departments, Directors of Institutes, and Deans of Faculties who have yet to submit students’ grades to do so without further delay.
He warned that the failure to submit grades could lead to serious administrative complications, including:
* Students “self-promoting” to higher levels without proper authorization,
* Inability of students to pay fees or complete registration, and
* Graduating students missing the upcoming December congregation ceremony.
The Deputy Registrar emphasized that such issues could further disrupt the academic calendar something the University has been working hard to stabilize in recent years.
“All concerned are therefore urged to ensure they fulfill their respective obligations towards getting the new academic year off to a smooth start,” the notice concluded.
The announcement reflects the administration’s renewed focus on restoring order and academic discipline at Sierra Leone’s premier institution of higher learning.
