Freetown – Emerson Bockarie has been remanded at the Male Correctional Center on Pademba Road following his court appearance before Magistrate Wilbrie John at Pademba Road Court No. 7.
The accused was denied bail and is facing serious allegations of fraud.
Bockarie is charged with defrauding Teresa Kamara of $50,000 under the guise of a gold mining investment. He is facing two counts: Conspiracy to Defraud and Obtaining Money by False Pretenses, offenses outlined under Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to court documents, the alleged crime took place between February 17 and June 7, 2024. During this period, Bockarie and unidentified accomplices reportedly convinced Kamara to invest in a gold mining venture, promising to mine and ship gold to her in the United States. Investigators claim Bockarie knowingly misrepresented the scheme to secure the funds.
The case has been adjourned to January 15, 2025, for further proceedings.
