In a highly anticipated announcement, the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (MBSSE), Conrad Sackey, took to social media to share a crucial update regarding the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.
According to the Minister, the WASSCE results, which were conducted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC), are set to be unveiled to the public on Monday, October 2nd, 2023.
A staggering 243,000 candidates participated in the Government WASSCE 2023 in Sierra Leone earlier this year, with a nearly balanced gender distribution of 115,033 males and 128,170 females.
WASSCE, a pivotal examination for secondary school students, stands as the last hurdle before gaining admission to tertiary institutions. Over the years, the number of successful candidates in this examination has seen a remarkable increase. This surge in successful candidates has prompted some tertiary institutions to implement entrance exams as a prerequisite for admission, highlighting the competitiveness of the academic landscape.
It’s essential to emphasize that the West African Examination Council, an internationally recognized examination body established by law, plays a vital role in conducting examinations across five-member West African countries, including Sierra Leone.
Stay tuned for the official release of the WASSCE 2023 results on October 2nd, 2023, as students and parents eagerly await the outcomes that will shape their educational futures.
