In the most recent court session held at the Pademba Road Magistrates’ Court in Freetown concerning the tragic case involving our esteemed colleague, the Late Samuel Brima Mattia, significant developments unfolded.
The primary accused, Joseph Lamin, along with two accomplices, appeared once again before the honorable court to face a range of charges, spanning from conspiracy to commit murder to murder itself.
Providing further insight into the case, Detective Inspector Abubakarr Kargbo of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) testified before the court, building upon the revelations from the previous week. He outlined the meticulous investigative process conducted by the police, detailing their visit to the crime scene at the VOPAD Radio Station in Waterloo. Inspector Kargbo emphasized the high level of professionalism exhibited by the police during the investigation, which resulted in the accumulation of substantial evidence against the accused individuals.
In light of the compelling testimony presented by Detective Inspector Kargbo, Magistrate Sahr Kekura denied bail to the accused persons and adjourned the proceedings to the 26th of March, 2025.
The SWASAL Secretariat wishes to reaffirm our steadfast commitment to keeping our esteemed members informed of any unfolding developments related to this case. We maintain optimism that the judicial process will ultimately serve justice equitably.
