In a recent statement, Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh of Sierra Leone expressed his apprehensions regarding planned protests, alleging their connection to the main opposition party, All People’s Congress (APC).
Sengeh called upon opposition leaders to publicly disavow these demonstrations, emphasizing his earnest desire for unity and tranquility to prevail throughout the nation.
Through various social media platforms, Sengeh’s message was disseminated, accompanied by a heartfelt plea to opposition party leaders to take a decisive stance against the protests.
He conveyed, “Is it too much to ask our friends who are leaders in the opposition to publicly condemn these so-called protests heavily linked to them? Couldn’t they publicly dissociate themselves from these persistent calls for violence and instability? We have one Salone and land we love!”
These scheduled protests have triggered concerns over potential political tensions and instability in Sierra Leone.
Sengeh’s call for unity and peace underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to preserving stability and safeguarding the nation’s interests.
