Over the weekend, Osman Kamara, the British-born Sierra Leonean footballer, displayed his skills while playing for Arsenal U21, resulting in a 2-1 victory against Boreham Wood.
Last year, in an exclusive interview with Football Sierra Leone, Kamara expressed his strong desire to represent Sierra Leone in international football, should England not call him up.
Born on August 6, 2006, in England to Sierra Leonean parents, Kamara’s football journey started at the age of eight when he joined his first-ever Sunday league team, Senrab FC, located in East London. With a determination to succeed, he shared his aspirations of turning football into a lifelong career.
Having joined Arsenal’s under 18 team on July 1, 2022, the young striker spoke about his ambitions to play international football someday. However, he admitted feeling torn between choosing to play for Sierra Leone, his parents’ homeland, or for England, where he was born and raised.
Reflecting on his earlier experiences, Kamara had previously played with Senrab for two seasons before undergoing a trial at Crystal Palace. Although he encountered challenges during the trial due to the new and intense academy environment, he remained resilient and focused on honing his skills.
Following his dream, Kamara’s dedication paid off when he was signed by Arsenal, his boyhood club, which brought immense joy to both him and his family. Now, the young talent is determined to prove himself and break into Arsenal’s senior team.
