In a boost to their youth setup, Championship side Blackburn Rovers have officially announced the acquisition of 19-year-old forward Osman Kamara from Arsenal’s academy, following an impressive trial period.
The Sierra Leone U-20 international, known for his pace and goal-scoring prowess, has inked a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Riversiders, running until June 2028, with an option to extend for an additional year.
Kamara’s journey to Ewood Park marks a significant step in his young career. Joining Arsenal in May 2014 as a promising talent, he progressed through their youth ranks, making 77 appearances for the under-18 and under-21 teams, where he netted 21 goals and provided five assists.
He signed his first professional deal with the Gunners in June 2024 but departed on a permanent basis this winter. During his trial with Rovers, Kamara made an immediate impact, coming off the bench in a U21 match against Birmingham City and scoring just four minutes later with a clever flicked finish.
This move is particularly exciting for Sierra Leonean football fans, as Kamara represents the nation’s U-20 squad and brings international experience to Blackburn’s Under-21 group.
Rovers aim to nurture his development, helping him regain top form after recent challenges and potentially push for senior team opportunities.
Arsenal wished him well, thanking him for his contributions over the years.
