Arsenal Football Club have introduced a striking new away kit for the 2024/25 season, in partnership with adidas and Labrum London, the esteemed British-African heritage clothing brand founded by Sierra Leonean-born Foday Dumbuya.
The away kit features a striking black base adorned with a bold white zig-zag graphic, a design element personally crafted by Dumbuya.
Traditional pan-African colors—black, red, and green—accentuate the kit, underscoring the club’s deep ties to Africa.
“This shirt is more than just a piece of sportswear; it’s a canvas that reflects our deep-rooted connection with the African diaspora,” an Arsenal spokesperson explained. “It highlights the cultural richness within our team and our global supporters.”
Foday Dumbuya, whose upbringing in London was shaped by the influence of Arsenal’s African players, expressed his excitement about the collaboration.
“Arsenal players with African heritage were incredible role models for me,” he shared. “Designing this kit with them is a personal milestone.”
Dumbuya’s background is steeped in diverse cultural experiences.
Born in Sierra Leone and having lived in Cyprus before settling in London, his multicultural upbringing informs his work as a menswear designer and Creative Director.
His designs seamlessly blend traditional techniques with modern British tailoring, creating the distinctive style that Labrum London is known for.
Dumbuya’s journey in fashion is marked by significant achievements. A graduate of Nottingham Trent University, he has worked with industry giants like DKNY and Nike before founding Labrum London in 2015. His innovative designs earned him the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design in May 2023, presented by King Charles, with football icon David Beckham in attendance.
The new Arsenal away kit for the 2024/25 season stands as a testament to the fusion of sport, fashion, and cultural heritage, embodying a celebration of diversity and a tribute to the club’s vibrant, global fanbase.
