Freetown, Sierra Leone – April 20, 2026 – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has issued a strong call to all public officers in Sierra Leone to fulfil their statutory obligation by declaring their assets through its newly launched user-friendly online Asset Declaration Portal.
In a public notice released today, the ACC reminded public officers of the legal requirement under Section 119 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2008 (as amended in 2019), which mandates every public officer to declare their income, assets, and liabilities within three months of assuming office, and thereafter every two years, not later than 31st March of the second year, including when leaving office.
For the 2026 Declaration Year, the Commission has adjusted the usual declaration period to allow for the full rollout of the new digital portal developed in collaboration with the Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI). The declaration window is now open from 20th April to 20th July 2026.
The ACC specifically urged the following categories of public officers to submit their asset declarations:
– Persons holding elective offices
– Persons appointed by the President
– Public Officers in Grade 7 and above
– Public Officers below Grade 7 who have fiduciary (financial) responsibilities
In the education sector, the Commission highlighted that teachers in Government and Government-assisted schools must declare if they fall into these roles:
– Principals
– Vice Principals
– Head Teachers
– Deputy Head Teachers
– Bursars
The notice further emphasised that newly appointed or elected public officers, including Paramount Chiefs and Court Chairmen, as well as outgoing public officers, are required to comply with the asset declaration requirements. Public officers who made declarations in 2026 for the 2024 Declaration Year are also expected to submit a fresh declaration for the 2026 Declaration Year within the current window.

The ACC encouraged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to support new users by facilitating the creation of official email accounts to enable seamless access to the portal. Officers with existing login details are advised to continue using their current usernames and passwords.
The Commission drew attention to Section 122A (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, warning that failure to submit the Assets Declaration Form, or knowingly providing false, inaccurate, or misleading information, shall attract administrative sanctions and other penalties.
