A joint operation between Guinean and Sierra Leonean security forces has successfully apprehended five fugitives wanted in connection with the failed coup of November 26, 2023.
The individuals arrested are:
– Major F.S Kamara
– Major Patrick Abu Odendeh Sesay, also known as PAO
– Major Juana Kabba
– Fatmata Koroma
– Major I Bangura
According to a press release issued on June 20, 2024, by the Sierra Leonean government, the fugitives will be processed and transferred to Sierra Leone in the coming days.
“Once transferred, they will be interrogated by our law enforcement authorities,” stated the release.
The Government of Sierra Leone expressed its gratitude for the support received from Guinean counterparts.
“We extend our deepest thanks to our Guinean friends for their invaluable support and friendship in this operation,” the statement added.
Additionally, the government acknowledged the crucial role played by citizens in the operation.
“We also thank our citizens at home and abroad who continue to provide useful tips and information for the ongoing efforts to apprehend and bring to justice all those responsible for the atrocities of November 26, 2023,” the release noted.
The Ministry of Information and Civic Education assured that it would continue to provide timely updates on the situation as it unfolds.
