In a resolute stance against the proliferation of Kush trafficking, Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has announced a collaborative effort between the government and the Judiciary to staunch the flow of the illicit substance throughout the nation.
Speaking at the Bintumani International Conference Centre during a pivotal town hall meeting, Vice President Jalloh emphasized the gravity of the situation, asserting that bail would be categorically denied to any individual apprehended for importing or selling Kush, regardless of legal representation.
“Anyone caught will face the full force of the law,” Vice President Jalloh declared. “No exceptions, no leniency.”
Highlighting recent seizures, he revealed that two containers laden with materials for Kush processing had been intercepted over the weekend, leading to the detention of seven suspects aiding ongoing investigations.
The government has appointed two dedicated magistrates to preside over cases related to Kush trafficking, while also orchestrating the removal of harmful drugs from pharmacies nationwide.
In a unified front against the menace, Minister of Health and Sanitation, Austin Demby, underscored the grave health risks associated with Kush, citing its deleterious effects on vital organs.
Minister of Internal Affairs, Major General David Taluva, disclosed the indictment of over 296 cases, with swift action taken to prosecute offenders.
Inspector General of Police, William Faiya Sellu, assured heightened law enforcement efforts, including the replacement of lax commanders.
However, the battle against Kush transcends mere law enforcement. Opposition Leader Abdul Karim Kargbo stressed the need for bipartisan collaboration, urging a united front devoid of political polarization.
Kargbo pledged bipartisan support for legislative measures aimed at bolstering anti-trafficking efforts.
