In a monumental development for Sierra Leone’s infrastructure sector, His Excellency the President, Brig. (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio, has officially appointed Ing. Alfred Jalil Momodu as the new Director General of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA).
The appointment, in accordance with Section 18 (2) of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (Amendment) Act, 2010, is subject to the approval of Parliament, confirming the significance of this decision.
Ing. Momodu is now required to contact the Clerk of Parliament, who will facilitate a meeting with the Committee on Appointments and the Public Service of Parliament for the formal consideration of his appointment. Upon parliamentary approval, the specific Terms and Conditions of his role will be disclosed.
This appointment supersedes an earlier communication dated October 19, 2023, and marks a pivotal moment for Sierra Leone’s transportation and infrastructure landscape.
Ing. Alfred Jalil Momodu’s journey to this esteemed position is marked by over two decades of experience in Civil Engineering. He boasts a Master of Science degree (with Merit) in Road Management and Engineering from the University of Birmingham, complemented by a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.
Ing. Momodu’s tenure at the Sierra Leone Roads Authority began in 2002, starting as an Assistant Engineer and progressing to his most recent role as Deputy Director General (DDG). His elevation to the position of Director General occurred following the retirement of the previous DDG in late 2022, reflecting his exceptional contributions to the institution.
