FREETOWN, 14th October 2026 – Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has expressed satisfaction with the progress of rehabilitation works at the Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU), assuring contractors and project managers of government’s continued support to complete the projects.
The Vice President made the remarks on Monday during an inspection tour of the BADEA-supported projects at MMTU’s Goderich and Congo Cross campuses in Freetown.
At the Congo Cross campus, Dr Jalloh noted that students have already started using some of the rehabilitated classrooms, while at Goderich, he commended the quality of work done so far, including progress on the construction of new hostels for male and female students.
“My role is to support the contractors, project managers and consultants so that they can deliver these projects,” the Vice President said, stressing the need for collaboration to address challenges and fast-track completion.
The inspection is part of President Julius Maada Bio’s directive for the Vice President to monitor government-supported development projects across the country. The MMTU rehabilitation is funded by the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and is aimed at improving higher and technical education infrastructure in the country.
Civil society activist Alphonso Manley, who joined the inspection, welcomed the progress made so far but called for sustained monitoring and adequate funding to ensure the remaining works are completed on time.
“So far, so good. We appreciate the progress, though more work remains to be done,” Manley said.
Project managers at both campuses assured the Vice President of their commitment to completing all outstanding works within the agreed timelines.
Vice President Jalloh said he will undertake follow-up visits to both campuses to track progress and support the final handover of the facilities to the university administration.
