Freetown, Sierra Leone — The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has successfully recovered the entire amount of over NLe 3,000,000 (Le 3 billion old Leones) misappropriated from the Freetown City Council (FCC), including accrued interest, ensuring the council incurs no financial loss from the fraud.
In a ceremony held today, ACC Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala Esq. presented the final cheque to FCC Chief Administrator Rahman Tom Farma, officially closing the commission’s intervention in the high-profile case.
The recovery marks a significant victory in the fight against corruption in Sierra Leone.
According to the ACC, the operation underscores its firm stance that corruption will neither succeed nor pay off.
Public funds stolen in the past are now being aggressively traced, recovered, and restored to their rightful owners for the benefit of citizens.
This latest achievement further strengthens public confidence in the ACC’s ability to hold accountable those who misuse state resources and to return every recoverable cedi to government institutions.
