WATERLOO, Sierra Leone — 14 July 2026 – Officers of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) attached to the Waterloo Checkpoint have arrested a man found in possession of an unlicensed pistol loaded with 16 rounds of live ammunition.
The suspect, identified as Tejan Jabbie of New London, Kossoh Town in Freetown, was detained on Tuesday during a routine vehicle search at the checkpoint. He was travelling in a vehicle with registration number ARQ 600 when officers recovered the firearm and ammunition.
The arrest was carried out by personnel from the Waterloo Police Division under the leadership of Local Unit Commander, Superintendent Bankolay Mansaray.
Following the operation, Jabbie was handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) along with the seized pistol and ammunition for further investigation.
The Local Unit Commander reaffirmed the division’s commitment to intensified checkpoint operations aimed at curbing the proliferation of illegal firearms, combating crime, and safeguarding public safety nationwide.
