Freetown, Sierra Leone – March 7, 2026 – In a significant move to elevate the standard of football in Sierra Leone, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced a funding injection of US$207,000 to support the country’s Men’s and Women’s Premier League Boards.
The financial aid aims to enhance administrative efficiency and ensure the seamless operation of domestic competitions, marking a continued commitment to fostering competitive league football across the nation.
The allocation breaks down as follows: US$117,000 has been designated for the Men’s Premier League Board, while the Women’s Premier League Board will receive US$90,000. This funding is expected to empower both boards in managing their respective leagues more effectively, improving operational capabilities, and elevating the overall organization of league activities.
SLFA President Babadi Kamara highlighted the strategic importance of this initiative, stating that “strengthening domestic leagues remains a key priority of his administration, noting that strong and well-organized leagues are essential for the growth of football in Sierra Leone.”
Kamara’s emphasis underscores the association’s long-term vision for sustainable development in the sport, which has seen growing interest and participation at both grassroots and professional levels.
