Freetown, Sierra Leone – October 25, 2025: The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in partnership with the National Public Health Agency, the Sierra Leone Police, and the military, has launched a three-day nationwide operation aimed at tackling the growing abuse and distribution of kush and other illicit drugs across the country.
According to NDLEA Executive Director, Andrew Jaiah KaiKai, the campaign will be rolled out in three key phases. The first two days will focus on community engagement and public education, raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, the legal consequences of selling or concealing illegal substances, and the importance of collective community vigilance.
The final day of the operation will target direct enforcement actions, including the rehabilitation of drug users through existing treatment centres, the arrest of drug traffickers, and the destruction of known drug dens in local communities.
KaiKai underscored that the initiative is part of a broader national strategy to combat drug addiction and promote public safety.
He also revealed that new rehabilitation centres are being set up across the country to support recovery and reintegration efforts for affected individuals.
