Bo City, October 20, 2024 – In a concerted effort to combat drug trafficking, security forces in the Southern Region of Sierra Leone arrested multiple suspects over the weekend in a series of successful operations at various checkpoints.
On Sunday night, Alhassan Koroma, a commercial vehicle driver from Murabi, Waterloo, was apprehended at the Kebbie Town Snap Checkpoint with six gross of Tramadol. Koroma claimed ignorance of the package’s contents, stating that an unidentified lane leader had handed it to him. His arrest was facilitated by the collaboration of the Bo West Night Patrol Team and the personnel at the Kebbie Town Checkpoint.
In another operation on the same day, Fomba Swaray, a commercial vehicle driver from Brookville, Monrovia, was caught at the Fallah Checkpoint on the Bo-Taiama Highway with six and a half parcels of Kush. Swaray, who frequently travels between Freetown and Monrovia, was taken into custody by security forces at the checkpoint.
The previous day, Saturday, October 19, joint security forces at the Jendema Custom Complex, Mano River Division, arrested two women attempting to smuggle large quantities of Tramadol across the border into Liberia.
The suspects, Titty Tamba and *Nelly Shakey, were found with concealed drugs in their bags. During the same operation, Alhaji Mustapha Fofanah was apprehended with a significant amount of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.
All suspects are currently in custody while investigations are ongoing under the supervision of the Transnational Organized Crime Unit at the Regional Police Headquarters South.

These recent operations highlight the effectiveness of ongoing initiatives to curb the drug trade in the region, showcasing the determination of local authorities to maintain law and order.
