Freetown, July 1, 2025 — Businesswoman Mishella Koroma has been remanded in custody after being charged with multiple drug-related offenses, following her arrest at the Freetown International Airport in Lungi, Port Loko District, on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
Koroma was allegedly caught in possession of two small parcels of cocaine, which authorities say she was collecting, dealing in, and attempting to transport without lawful authorization.
The arrest was made during routine security checks, prompting swift legal action.
She appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Monday, June 30, where she was formally arraigned on four separate counts under the National Drug Control Act of 2008. The charges include collecting, dealing in, transporting, and possessing a prohibited drug, all without lawful authority—violations of Sections 7(b), 7(c), and 8(a) of the Act.
During the court session, Koroma did not enter a plea, as the case remains in its preliminary investigation stage. Prosecuting officer DPC 18235 Kabbie K. Thoronka requested an adjournment to allow the prosecution to bring forward its first witness. Defense counsel C. Pujeh Esq. represented the accused.
Magistrate Fornah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the allegations. Koroma has since been remanded at the female correctional center in Freetown.
The matter has been adjourned to Wednesday, July 2, 2025, for further proceedings.
