Sierra Leone’s Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has on the evening hours of today, November 17th 2024 arrived in Guinea Bissau on a working visits.
The Vice President is expected to meet the Guinea Bissau’s President, His Excellency Umaro Sissoco Embalo.
He will also meet other senior government officials, and the Sierra Leone community in Bissau.
In other news, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, Vice President Jalloh arrived in Senegal for bilateral meetings with government officials, attended the prestigious art exhibition that features Sierra Leonean artists for the first time in the Biennale’s history. The group exhibition explores themes such as the ancestry of freed enslaved people, feminism in Africa, tribal unity, post-conflict transitional justice, and African landscapes.
After touring the Sierra Leonean art on display at the embassy, Dr. Jalloh expressed his delight, stating: “I am happy that the Minister of Culture, Mrs. Nabeela Tunis, will be coming to Dakar in the coming days to explore ways to organize and promote our artistic talents. Sierra Leone has many talented individuals, from carvers to painters, in villages and towns. We need to create platforms where they can showcase their skills at national events in the future.”
Accompanied by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Senegal, H.E. Ibrahim Turay, the Vice President also visited exhibitions at Dakar’s Old Courthouse and the National Art Gallery at the Ministry of Culture. He viewed the work of Sierra Leonean artist Masoud Olufani, who is among 57 international artists featured in this year’s Biennale.
