On August 5th, 2023, at 11:51 UTC, a helicopter with Registration Number ZS-RWT encountered technical issues mid-air while en route from Monrovia to Banjul via Lungi.
The pilot performed a precautionary landing in an open ground near the Newton Waterloo axis, carrying two crew members.
Upon receiving notification from Lungi Air Traffic Control Tower, a team of Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA) safety inspectors, along with officers from the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Office of National Security (ONS), promptly arrived at the scene.
The aircraft was thoroughly inspected by the SLP, led by the LUC Waterloo Division, while SLCAA safety inspectors conducted necessary safety checks. Following the assessments, the crew was advised to relocate the aircraft to Hastings for further maintenance and repair.
Presently, the helicopter is securely under the custody of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) at Hastings, awaiting the maintenance team from SKYHORSE AVIATION.
