Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Ministry of Information and Civic Education is preparing for its largest event of the year, the National Townhall. This highly anticipated event will feature President Julius Maada Bio, who will discuss the progress made by his administration since his re-election one year ago.
Scheduled for next Tuesday, 23rd July, the townhall will take place at the Bintumani Conference Center. This event aims to foster dialogue between President Bio and the people of Sierra Leone, reinforcing the government’s commitment to accountability.
Minister of Information Chernor Bah announced the event during the weekly government press conference, stating, “The President wants to talk to you, the citizen, about one year of progress with the Big 5. He will be talking to you directly and will take questions from you, all across the country.”
The townhall has already garnered significant attention from media networks nationwide, with agreements in place to broadcast the event live on major networks. Community radios across Sierra Leone will also air the event.
The discussion will cover four key areas: Foreign Affairs, the Economy and the Big 5, Peace and National Cohesion, and a Civic Call to Action.
To facilitate citizen participation, the ministry has provided avenues for submitting questions, including a web link (https://bit.ly/3Wrvem7) and a toll-free line (818) available on major mobile networks.
Over the past year, the Ministry of Information and Civic Education has expanded the civic space by promoting crucial dialogues between citizens, experts, and government officials.
This townhall continues that mission, providing a platform for direct engagement with the President.
