The Sierra Leone Police, in partnership with the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), has launched a joint security patrol in Bo City in response to a recent surge in armed robbery cases.
Regional Police Commander South explained that the coordinated effort is designed to restore public confidence, curb criminal activities, and safeguard both residents and businesses.
The patrols will primarily target high-risk areas, with a special focus on night-time operations when most robberies are reported.
Under the arrangement, both police and military personnel will conduct routine patrols and checkpoints, ensuring increased visibility of law enforcement across the city.
Authorities believe this joint approach will serve as a strong deterrent to criminal gangs operating in Bo and its environs.
The initiative has been welcomed by local residents, who described it as a timely intervention to address growing security concerns.
Community leaders have called on the public to cooperate with the patrol teams by sharing vital information that could aid investigations and enhance safety.
Meanwhile, security officials have assured that the operation will continue until normalcy is fully restored and residents can go about their daily lives without fear.
