Freetown. The Legal Aid Board (LAB) has secured the acquittal and discharge of one Alusine Kamara (not his real name), a 60-year old man accused of sexually penetrating an eleven-year old minor.
Alusine was set free today Wednesday, 5 February 2025, by Honourable Justice Leonard Taylor of the Freetown High Court after being found not guilty on charges of sexual penetration.
In her usual post-discharge briefing, the Executive Director of the Board, Ms. Fatmata Claire Carlton-Hanciles, admonished him to put the past behind and work towards regaining a normal life, noting that life behind bars especially for the aged is traumatic.
She advised him not to habour grudge against anybody and if possible to relocate to a new community.
Accompanied by a cross section of family and well-wishers from his community, Alusine expressed gratitude to the Executive Director, her lawyer and the entire staff of the Board for proving his innocence. He assured the Board of his commitment to continue to be a peaceful and a law abiding citizen. He said the plot against him was as a result of politics.
Alusine was represented by Counsel Morrison Karimu.
