In a bid to mitigate conflicts and streamline land management systems nationwide, the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Country Planning has initiated significant reforms.
Effective immediately, individuals seeking state land lease, freehold, grant, building permits, and land registration must furnish a copy of their national identity card, non-national ID card, or ECOWAS identity card containing the unique National Identification Number (NIN).
This directive aligns with Cabinet directives and parliamentary ratification from March 2022, mandating the linkage of NINs on ID cards to access various services, including land and property registration, in Sierra Leone.
The public is advised that ID cards are available for acquisition at all NCRA district offices and designated centers/outlets nationwide.
The Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Country Planning urges the cooperation of the general public in implementing these reforms.
