Freetown, Sierra Leone – Popular Nigerian digital content creator Elizabeth Aminata Momodou, widely known as Jarvis, has arrived in Sierra Leone for a Youth Empowerment School Tour aimed at educating students on the positive use of social media.
The initiative, organized by Gbamgbaode Festival in collaboration with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary School Education, UN Women in Sierra Leone, and the Office of the President’s Directorate of Communications, seeks to inspire young minds to harness social media responsibly and productively.
Jarvis, who has gained global recognition for her robotic persona and boasts approximately ten million followers across platforms, has captivated young audiences throughout the tour, sharing insights on how social media can be leveraged for learning, networking, and career development.
Myke Berewa, Director of Communications at State House, highlighted the tour’s impact, emphasizing its role in shaping the digital habits of young Sierra Leoneans.
However, her visit has sparked controversy on social media, with unverified claims suggesting that the government funded her trip with $52,000. In response, Berewa categorically denied the allegations, clarifying that the government did not provide any financial support for Jarvis’ visit.
The Youth Empowerment School Tour continues to generate discussions across Sierra Leone, with many applauding the initiative’s efforts to promote digital literacy and responsible online engagement among students.
