Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, has pledged to ensure justice for Sia Fatu Kamara, a young woman whose recent death has sparked widespread concern.
In a video statement, Dr. Bio acknowledged the outpouring of messages from citizens urging her to intervene in the case, emphasizing her commitment to ensuring a thorough investigation.
Dr. Bio stated that she is personally reviewing all relevant documents related to the case to uncover the truth surrounding Sia’s death.
She appealed for patience from the public and the family of the deceased, urging them not to jump to conclusions while the investigation is still underway.
“I have taken the time to follow up on the matter and gather various documents related to her death,” Dr. Bio said, stressing the importance of allowing the authorities to complete their work without undue pressure.
The First Lady reaffirmed her dedication to staying involved in the investigation and advocating for justice for Sia Kamara.
She highlighted the tragic nature of the incident, which has not only captured national attention but also raised serious concerns about domestic violence in Sierra Leone.
Sia Fatu Kamara, who was a Communications Executive at the Freetown City Council, was reported dead last week under mysterious circumstances.
Preliminary reports have suggested that her death may have been linked to domestic violence. According to sources, an autopsy revealed that seven of her ribs were broken, and her spinal cord was severely damaged.
Dr. Bio’s involvement in the case underscores the gravity of the situation, as the nation awaits the outcome of the ongoing police investigation.
