The British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Lisa Chesney MBA, who also served as the Dean of Diplomats, has officially bid farewell to His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio, marking the end of her tenure in the country.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Alhaji Timothy Musa Kabba, highlighted the High Commissioner’s positive impact over her three years in Sierra Leone. He expressed his pleasure in working with her and acknowledged the privilege of presenting the outgoing British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone to the President.
In her farewell statement, High Commissioner Lisa Chesney expressed deep gratitude to President Bio and the people of Sierra Leone for their warmth and hospitality throughout her mission.
She referred to Sierra Leone as “her country” and shared her reluctance to leave but acknowledged her new professional obligations. She particularly praised President Bio for his unwavering commitment to women’s and girls’ empowerment, noting that Sierra Leone had set a global example under his leadership.
President Julius Maada Bio, in response, thanked High Commissioner Chesney for her dedication to Sierra Leone, highlighting her contributions to the nation’s peace and reconciliation efforts.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising women’s and girls’ issues as part of the country’s inclusive development agenda.
The President also conveyed his best wishes for her future endeavours and invited her to visit Sierra Leone whenever possible, emphasising that she would always be welcome.
