President Julius Maada Bio has expressed deep sorrow over the death of veteran journalist Hawa Moseray, who passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Aspen Hospital in Brookfields, Freetown.
In a tribute shared on social media, President Bio described Moseray as a “dedicated professional” and a “cherished member of the State House family.”
He wrote, “I am deeply sorrowful to hear about the passing of Hawa Moseray, our senior State House correspondent. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, and may her gentle soul find eternal peace.”
Hawa Moseray was a former broadcaster with the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) and served for several years as a correspondent attached to the Office of the President.
Her professionalism and commitment to journalism earned her widespread respect within the media industry.
Women in the Media Sierra Leone (WIMSAL) confirmed her death and paid tribute to her contributions to the profession, describing her passing as a “great loss to the media fraternity.”
In a statement, WIMSAL said, “We honour her legacy and the path she paved for many women in journalism.” The organization extended condolences to her family, colleagues, and the entire media community.
