BO, 15th October 2026 – The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has commenced preliminary works on the FIFA Arena project at the Bo Government Secondary School (Bo School).
The Association said work has started with backfilling and levelling at the project site, following the official signing of an agreement between the school and the SLFA.
The project will see the construction of a permanent mini-pitch aimed at expanding access to football and creating more opportunities for young people to participate in the game.
Bo School is one of two educational institutions selected to benefit from the FIFA Arena initiative in Sierra Leone, alongside Albert Academy in Freetown.
The FIFA Arena project is a global grassroots football initiative launched by FIFA, with the ambition of constructing 1,000 permanent mini-pitches in communities and schools worldwide by 2031.
Together with the FIFA Football for Schools programme, the initiative seeks to promote education, inclusion and youth development through football.
The SLFA said the commencement of work at Bo School demonstrates its commitment to supporting FIFA’s grassroots development agenda and strengthening the role of schools in nurturing young football talent.
Through the initiative, the Association aims to help create safe and accessible spaces where children can develop their football skills, build confidence, embrace teamwork and benefit from the educational and social values of the game.
The SLFA said it looks forward to the successful implementation of the project at both Bo School and Albert Academy as part of its broader commitment to grassroots football development.
