The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) is set to begin a nationwide search for young football talents as it launches its U-17 Boys Talent Hunt Programme on Monday, 13 July 2026.
The scouting exercise will officially commence at the SLFA Academy in Freetown at 1:00 p.m., with simultaneous talent identification activities taking place across the country’s four other regions.
According to the SLFA, the initiative is designed to strengthen youth football development by identifying gifted players and integrating them into the Association’s Players Development Pathway.
The programme will provide aspiring footballers from across Sierra Leone with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills before national youth development selectors.
Beyond a traditional football trial, the talent hunt is expected to serve as a structured platform for young players to receive guidance, training opportunities, and a possible route towards representing Sierra Leone at youth and senior national team levels.
The move forms part of broader efforts by the football governing body to expand grassroots development and ensure that promising players from communities outside major cities are given equal opportunities to progress.
With the search beginning nationwide, the SLFA hopes to uncover the next generation of Leone Stars players while building a stronger foundation for the future of Sierra Leonean football.
