Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Sierra Leone Police have confirmed that prominent businesswoman and social media personality Admire Bio, popularly known as “Mama of Freetown,” is currently in police custody as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
Sources at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) disclosed that Bio was detained on Wednesday, June 10, and is being questioned over allegations of fraud involving two Italian nationals. Investigators are reportedly examining claims that the matter involves approximately US$220,000.
Police officials confirmed the detention but declined to provide further details, citing the sensitive nature of the case and describing it as a live investigation.
Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities are reportedly searching for Bio’s husband, Alhaji Dausy Jalloh, a businessman, philanthropist and Chief Executive Officer of DAJ Investments, in connection with the same investigation.
While police have not formally announced any charges against either individual, sources close to the investigation said efforts are ongoing to locate and question Jalloh as investigators seek to establish the full circumstances surrounding the allegations.
The latest development places Bio back at the center of public attention following previous interactions with law enforcement. In April 2024, police conducted a high-profile search of her residence as part of investigations into allegations related to the country’s kush drug crisis. Authorities later stated that no drug-related evidence was discovered during the operation, although Bio and her husband were invited to the CID for questioning before being released.
Bio has also been involved in other public controversies in recent years, including disputes over land ownership and complaints lodged with the CID concerning alleged threats made against a journalist.
As of Thursday, the Sierra Leone Police had not issued an official public statement outlining the precise allegations in the current fraud investigation. Authorities say further information will be released when it is appropriate to do so.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no formal charges have yet been announced against Bio or her husband.
