Freetown, Sierra Leone – Former Leone Stars striker and coach Mohamed Kallon has officially applied for the vacant Head Coach position of Sierra Leone’s senior men’s national team.
In a social media post on Wednesday, Kallon confirmed that he submitted his application and credentials through the Sierra Leone Football Association’s (SLFA) General Secretary and official email channels.
“The Sierra Leone Football Association received my application through the General Secretary and official email, for the senior national men’s team head coach position,” he wrote.
He described the public advertisement of the vacancy as a standard administrative procedure and emphasized that, as a licensed coach, submitting through official channels is both professional and compliant with established protocols.
“This is about following procedures,” he added.
Kallon ended his statement on a hopeful yet patriotic note: “Fingers crossed 🤞 Put me in your prayers 🤲🏾😆 Despite all the ramifications and challenges, I will always put mama Salone first 💙🇸🇱”
Background and Context
Mohamed Kallon, one of Sierra Leone’s most iconic football figures, enjoyed a successful playing career in Europe, notably with clubs like Inter Milan, Monaco, and AEK Athens. He previously served as Head Coach of the Leone Stars and has remained actively involved in Sierra Leonean football, including youth development and domestic league initiatives.
The SLFA recently advertised the Head Coach vacancy for the senior national team as part of its recruitment process.
The SLFA is expected to review all applications, conduct interviews, and announce the successful candidate in the coming weeks.
