The Sierra Leone Police in Kenema have tightened the net on drug trafficking, arresting two men with dozens of wraps of suspected Kush in separate operations on Thursday, 29 January 2026.
In an early morning operation around 10:30 a.m., police officers led by Corporal 11546 Koroma Augustine arrested Ansu Boima, popularly known as “Governor,” at the I.D.A Section of the city. Police say a search on him uncovered forty-four wraps of suspected Kush.
Later that afternoon, at about 3:20 p.m., another team led by the Kenema Division Operations Officer, Inspector M. S. Conteh, arrested Wuyeah Kamara at his residence on Blama Road.
During the operation, carried out under the supervision of the Local Unit Commander, CSP Emmanuel Kpulun, officers reportedly recovered twenty-one wraps of suspected Kush.
Police say the arrests form part of an ongoing crackdown on drug abuse and trafficking in Kenema, aimed at keeping the city safe, especially for young people.
Both suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue at the Transnational Organized Crime Unit to establish the source of the drugs and possible links to a wider network.
The Sierra Leone Police have once again appealed to the public to work with law enforcement by sharing credible information, stressing that the fight against illegal drugs is a shared responsibility.
