Jendema, Pujehun District — Sierra Leone Police have arrested two Sierra Leonean nationals after intercepting a large consignment of suspected Tramadol tablets at the Jendema border crossing in Pujehun District.
The suspects, identified as Ansu Borsua and Isata Mambu, were apprehended during a routine operation by security personnel at the border. Officers recovered 974 cards and four full packs of tablets believed to be Tapentadol/Tramadol from the pair.
Authorities described the seizure as part of intensified efforts to curb the illegal trafficking and distribution of controlled substances across Sierra Leone’s borders.
Police said investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the drugs, their intended destination, and any wider distribution network connected to the consignment.
The two suspects remain in custody as inquiries continue.
The arrest has sparked renewed public concern over the rising influx of illicit drugs in the country. Many citizens and stakeholders are calling on authorities to strengthen enforcement and crack down harder on those involved in importing and supplying such substances.
