Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas, on Monday received in audience Stephen Barnes, architect of the GO-FOR-GOLD Program, and a delegation of foreign investors from the United States, Germany, and India who are exploring investment opportunities in Sierra Leone.
The visiting investors expressed strong interest in Sierra Leone’s growing business climate, citing the government’s open-door policy and the friendliness of its people as key motivators for their engagement.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Barnes said their mission was to promote direct foreign investment in Sierra Leone.
He appealed to Speaker Thomas to support the ratification of key investment agreements at the parliamentary level, emphasizing that his team shares President Julius Maada Bio’s vision of attracting credible foreign investors to drive national development.
In response, Speaker Thomas warmly welcomed the delegation, applauding their confidence in Sierra Leone’s economy.
He reaffirmed Parliament’s readiness to enact laws that encourage sustainable investment while protecting the interests of both Sierra Leoneans and investors.
“Sierra Leone is open to genuine investors,” Speaker Thomas assured. “The Sixth Parliament of the Second Republic remains committed to creating a favorable environment for investment and will ratify agreements that bring meaningful growth to our nation.”
The courtesy visit highlighted Sierra Leone’s increasing appeal as an investment destination, thanks to its strategic location, competitive workforce, and government-backed incentives designed to foster economic growth and international partnerships.
