FREETOWN, October 1, 2026 — The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has banned match official Foday Momoh from all football activities for two seasons following a disciplinary hearing.
In a press release issued on Thursday, October 1, 2026, and signed by Head of Media and Marketing Ibrahim Kamara, the SLFA said the ban was imposed by its Referees Committee after a hearing held on 16th September 2026 into allegations relating to Momoh’s conduct as a match official.
According to the release, the Committee considered the evidence presented, his own responses, corroborating information, and the findings at the end of the proceedings.
After deliberations, the Committee unanimously found that Momoh’s conduct amounted to serious breaches of professional responsibility, confidentiality, duty to report, transparency and candour expected of SLFA match officials.
As a result, he has been banned from all SLFA refereeing activities for the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 football seasons.
The SLFA said the sanction takes immediate effect and will remain in force for the two complete seasons, subject to his right to appeal.
The Association says it remains committed to maintaining professionalism, accountability and fair play within football administration and match officiating, and will continue to take disciplinary action where officials breach standards.
This is one of the strongest sanctions handed to a referee in recent seasons, as the SLFA tries to clean up officiating and restore confidence among clubs and fans ahead of the new Premier League season.
