The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) in Grand Cape Mount County has arrested a 21-year-old Sierra Leonean man found with a large quantity of marijuana during an early morning operation on Tuesday, 9 December 2025.
The suspect, Francis Kemoh, a resident of Weajue Town, was intercepted around 1:15 a.m. while attempting to cross into Liberia through Jeajuah Town, an illegal entry point, on a motorbike.
According to the LDEA, Kemoh was found with 80 compressed plates of marijuana, weighing 28 kilograms.
The seized drugs are valued at LRD 532,000, which is approximately Le 70 million in Sierra Leonean currency.
Authorities say the arrest forms part of Operation Clean Wave, a national security initiative launched on Monday to curb drug trafficking and ensure public safety during the festive season.
Kemoh has been transferred to the LDEA Investigation Section and is expected to be charged and taken to court.
