Freetown, Sierra Leone – March 23, 2025 – The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have launched a comprehensive investigation following the tragic deaths of two young children at the National Pentecostal Primary School in Freetown.
In a press statement issued today, the SLP revealed that the incident occurred on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, when three children—Abdul Aziz Yusuf Kamara (3), Patrick Hassan Kamara (2), and Adama Sarah Sesay (3)—were reported missing from the school between 12:00 and 13:00 hours.
The Police added that later that evening, at approximately 23:00 hours, the bodies of Abdul Aziz and Patrick were discovered in a faulty black Toyota Sport Edition vehicle (registration number AJA 671) parked within the school compound. Adama was found alive and was immediately taken for medical treatment.
According to SLP, preliminary findings from a post-mortem examination conducted on March 20 confirmed that the two children died due to suffocation, with no signs of physical assault or injury. Adama has since been reunited with her parents and continues to receive medical care.
In connection with the incident, five individuals, including the Bishop of the Pentecostal Church, are currently in police custody to assist with the ongoing investigation.
The SLP has appealed to the public for patience and calm as they conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure justice is served.
They have also urged the community to refrain from speculation and allow the authorities to complete their inquiries.
The community remains in mourning as they await further updates on this tragic incident.
