Bandama/Wanjama, Sierra Leone – In the early hours of Saturday, October 25, 2025, security officers stationed at the Bandama/Wanjama Checkpoint intercepted a fuel tanker reportedly transporting a large quantity of dried leaves believed to be cannabis sativa.
According to police sources, the vehicle, a tanker with registration number AKJ 785, was being driven by Joseph Kanneh of 4 Nyamui Street, Kenema. The discovery was made around 2:50 a.m., following a routine security search of the vehicle.
During questioning, Kanneh allegedly told security personnel that the illicit substance was loaded onto the vehicle by an unidentified passenger who had boarded between Mile 91 and Moyamba Junction. The said passenger is currently on the run.
Authorities have since transferred the case to the Kenema Police Station for further investigation, while efforts are underway to apprehend the fugitive involved in the suspected drug trafficking.
