In a significant achievement for border security, the Proactive Joint Border Patrol Team successfully intercepted a large shipment of contraband at the Bombohun village Crossing Point.
The operation took place on Thursday, August 22, 2024, under the leadership of Regional Police Commander South, Assistant Inspector General of Police Mr. Brima Kanneh.

The team commenced their mission early, deploying to the Kalia 1 and Kalia 2 communities via police and military vehicles. As night approached, they chose to stay overnight in Bombohun village, where they informed the Town Chief, Pa Gbessay Dessama, of their operations.
The Chief extended a warm welcome to the officers, unaware that the following day would yield a significant breakthrough.
On Friday, August 23, 2024, the team uncovered 50 cartons of Gold Seal Filters Cigarettes hidden in the residence of a local resident named Mannah. The contraband was reportedly linked to an individual identified only as Mr. Abdulai from Kenema City.
In a display of exemplary leadership, Staff Sergeant Konuwa promptly notified higher authorities, including police and customs officials. The contraband was photographed and securely transported to Gendema, where customs officers will take the necessary legal actions.
