In a significant milestone, Saving Lives Initiatives (SLI), an esteemed American charity organization, is embarking on its 10th mission to Sierra Leone.
The mission, scheduled from October 19 to October 30, will see a dedicated team of volunteers offering a range of crucial services, including free surgeries, critical care training, and advanced surgical and lifesaving technique training for healthcare professionals at Kingharmann and Connaught Hospitals.
This mission marks a commendable continuation of SLI’s commitment to Sierra Leone, as it previously conducted similar medical missions in October 2019. On this occasion, SLI will dispatch a team of 12 skilled medical professionals from the United States and Great Britain, including General Surgeons, Physician Assistants, Anesthetists, Nurses, Logistics Personnel, Surgical Assistants, and Surgical Technologists.
A distinguishing feature of SLI’s medical missions is the integration of critical training alongside medical interventions. This approach ensures the transfer of knowledge to healthcare partners in Sierra Leone, enabling them to maintain the delivery of high-quality care to patients long after the mission team’s departure.
Saving Lives Initiatives, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization (Tax ID 47-5645999), remains steadfast in its mission to address the medical needs of underserved communities in Sierra Leone, all while providing these services to patients free of charge.
