The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has confirmed a network failure that has disrupted electricity supply in Freetown’s Central Business District.
According to EDSA, the outage is the result of a damaged underground transmission link running through PWD, Soldier Street and Falcon Bridge. Technical teams are currently on site working to fix the fault and restore power.
Areas affected by the outage include Soldier Street, Electricity House, Cotton Tree, the GUMA Building, Ministry of Finance, Sam Bangura Building, Leone Building, Catholic Mission, and several major institutions and offices such as UMC, NIC, NASSIT, RITCHCORP, SLCB, Bank of Sierra Leone, and multiple commercial banks including UBA, Rokel Commercial Bank, UT Bank, ECO Bank and Access Bank.
EDSA says repair works are expected to be completed by 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, 21st December 2025, after which normal power supply should be restored.
The authority has apologized to customers for the inconvenience caused and thanked the public for their patience while efforts continue to resolve the issue.
