Freetown, Sierra Leone –The Director of Traffic in the Sierra Leone Police, Commissioner of Police (CP) Abdul Moijueh, has come under public scrutiny following allegations that he was seen using a police vehicle during late-night hours in the company of a woman.
The accusations, which originated from a social media blog known as Born 2 Blog, claim that the incident occurred around 3:00 AM and involved inappropriate use of state property.
According to the blog, CP Moijueh was allegedly spotted near the Kissy Barracks in a police-marked vehicle, leading to speculation that the vehicle was used for personal reasons. The story quickly gained traction online, prompting widespread public commentary.
In response to the growing controversy, CP Moijueh issued a firm denial, describing the allegations as false, misleading, and damaging to his character.
At that time, I was in bed. I never authorized anyone to use the vehicle. I personally hold the keys,” CP Moijueh stated in an interview. “Unfortunately, the driver took it upon himself to use the vehicle without my knowledge.”
He explained that he only became aware of the situation after receiving a call from officers at the Kissy Barracks, who informed him that his official driver had been detained for allegedly taking the vehicle to visit a girlfriend.
“I immediately ordered the return of the vehicle to the Central Police Station and instructed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to handle the matter,” he said.
Despite CP Moijueh’s denial, the blog insists that he was present in the vehicle at the time of the incident. The blog further alleges that he may have attempted to shield the situation by blaming his driver.
Addressing the claims about being with a woman, CP Moijueh firmly rejected the insinuation.
“These are baseless and malicious lies. I was not with any woman at that hour. This is a deliberate attempt to assassinate my character and undermine my service,” he said.
The incident has sparked internal discussions within the police force, with senior officials reportedly monitoring the situation closely. Meanwhile, CP Moijueh has called for calm and urged the public not to rush to judgment based on online rumours.
“I have built my career on discipline and integrity. I will not allow falsehoods to distract me from my duty,” he maintained.
As investigations continue, public attention remains fixed on whether the internal police inquiry will corroborate or dispel the claims made against the senior officer.
